RDA to be implemented

In the final analysis, the RDA Test Coordinating Committee recommended that the national libraries adopt RDA with certain conditions and that implementation will not occur before January 1, 2013. View the entire report.

New LCGFT genre headings

Library of Congress Genre/Form Terms for Library and Archival Materials (LCGFT), should be formally separated from Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH). The current coding for the genre/form authority records indicates that the terms are from LCSH, not LCGFT.  The LCCNs are prefixed by “sh” and 008/11 is set to “a,” Library of Congress Subject Headings. Authority records for LCGFT terms will be coded with the LCCN prefix “gf” and 008/11 is set to z and the addition of the 040 $f: lcgft   For more information.
