In August, LCLS courier services delivered over 95,000 items to member libraries.  School delivery has resumed and we anticipate another busy month!  ‘Keep an eye on this site as we tag along with a courier driver and learn what delivery means to our members!

September 1st

8 a.m. — left the library system

8:50 a.m. — arrived at Litchfield Public Library District

“It’s mandatory.  We HAVE to have it.  It’s the lifeline to interlibrary loan.  We have to have it.  I can’t image if we didn’t have it.  Postage costs will be astronomical.”

9:25 a.m. — arrived at Hillsboro Public Library

9:45 a.m. — arrived at Witt Township Public Library.  Sue VanOstran, librarian, says “We would be lost without delivery.”

10 a.m. — arrived at Nokomis Public Library.  Debra Lehman says “We can’t do without delivery!”

10: 03 a.m. — arrived at Nokomis High School.  Michelle Hefley says with no budget for materials, delivery is critical.

11:15 a.m. — arrived Auburn Public Library

Here’s the new teen area in the library.  Laura Carter says it’s a great place for kids to hang out.

11:35 a.m. — arrived North Mac CU #34 High School.  This is the first month of school for the district, which is a merger between the Girard and Virden School Districts.  Librarian Susan Mathias says they spent quite a bit of time over the summer merging and arranging library collections in the district.  Here’s the library:

11:45 a.m. — arrived Grand Prairie of the West PLD (Virden).  At late morning, the library was busy with patrons checking out books!

12:15 p.m. — arrived Carlinville Public Library

The mural in the children’s area of the library provides a lovely background for story times.

The memorial artwork in honor of Beth Kaburik is relatively new to the library and was created by an East Coast artist.

1 p.m. — arrived Frank Bertetti-Benld Public Library.  Library patrons are greeted by a beautiful memorial planter dedicated to long-time board member Paul LaDame.

2:00 p.m. — returned to the system.  Materials were unloaded from the van and set on the dock:

In total, on the Auburn route (our smallest route) an average of 391 items were delivered, and an average of 345 items were picked up at 12 member libraries.  And that is one of seven routes today!

The GateNet Millennium server is again operational.  This morning’s downtime was caused by a faulty power supply.  The server may be down in the future for repair, however it will be a planned downtime and all efforts will be made to minimize the impact to members and patrons.

We are currently unable to connect to the GateNet Millennium server.  At this time we are working with Innovative Interfaces Inc. tech support and will post updates to the web site and GateNet listserv as soon as more information is available.

If you have the offline circulation module at your library, you may wish to utilize it for the interim.
