Congratulations to the following LCLS members elected as directors of the Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS), effective July 1, 2011:

The LCLS Board of Directors has announced a special meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, June 14th at 4 p.m.  Please see the agenda for additional information.

Staff Note:

Brook Weber’s last day at LCLS as Circulation Services Supervisor is Friday, June 17th.  We wish Brook all good things in her next life adventure!

FY2012 OCLC Fees Announced:

Following a request for proposal process, OCLC was selected by the Illinois State Library (ISL) as the vendor for bibliographic, discovery and interlibrary loan services to Illinois libraries.  Pricing information for ILLINET/OCLC services is being distributed by the ISL to member OCLC libraries, with contracts and invoices to follow.  Members with questions should contact Suzanne Schriar, Associate Director Library Automation & Technology, ISL: sschriar@ilsos.net, 217/785.1533.

What’s New at WJ-IL: Unlimited Course Enrollment:

Important changes are coming to WebJunction Illinois.  Starting July 1 all registered users of WJIL will have access to an unlimited number of free online courses and webinars with the availability of certificates for all learning events. If you want to know how you can take advantage of this wealth of free continuing education read this edition of “What’s New @ WJIL.”

Digital Divide Grant Recipients:

Congratulations to Cahokia Public Library District and the Mississippi Public Library District (Collinsville and Fairmont City) as recipients of the Digital Divide Grant sponsored by the Illinois State Library to enhance broadband computer access to citizens across Illinois.  Recipients will each receive between $10,000 and $26,000.  Please see BlogJunction Illinois for further information and the complete list of recipients.

On Tuesday, June 14th, WebJunction will present Cataloging Efficiencies that Make a Difference, a webinar focused on various approaches to streamlining cataloging in today’s libraries.  Visit LibraryLearning (L2) for additional information and to register.

Did You Know?

The Lewis & Clark Library System will celebrate its 45-year history of accomplishments at the Annual Meeting Tuesday, June 21, 2011.  The festivities begin at 3 p.m., with remarks at 3:30 p.m.  We hope you can join us.  After all, the System would not be here without all of our fabulous members!
