This Database Specialist is responsible for performing database activities which promote the quality and growth of WorldCat.  Activities will include correcting bibliographic records using a combination of cataloging tools, learning to identify and merge duplicate records, and participating in other database maintenance activities, such as NACO work.

Head Youth Librarian - Tippecanoe County Public Library (Indiana)

Tippecanoe County Public Library seeks a dynamic service-oriented individual with commitment to plan, deliver and evaluate library services to all children and young adults from birth through the twelfth grade. As a department head, the selected candidate will be required to; act as a library services advocate for children, young adults and families, provide reference and readers’ advisory service within the department, oversee the programming activities of the department, plan and present programs for children and young adults, develop ideas and implementation strategies for new programs, compile statistics, prepare reports and actively participate in professional associations. A minimum of 4 years experience as a children’s librarian or any equivalent combination of training and experience plus a minimum of 2 years supervising MLS staff or other relevant supervisory experience is preferred. MLS from an ALA accredited library school is required.  Starting pay is $20.50.

Responsibilities:  The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks an innovative and knowledgeable professional to support the technical infrastructure needs for electronic resources and acquisitions functions  at the University Library.  This is an Academic Professional position for a librarian who possesses the requisite skills, experience, and/or demonstrated knowledge from course work. The Support Specialist will work in the Acquisitions unit within the Technical Services Division of the Library. The successful candidate will work in a team environment with those division faculty and staff responsible for the management of electronic resources and acquisitions work, as well as with IT staff in providing technical support for the Library’s OpenURL link resolver, which is currently SFX. The work will include support for the tools, as well as the daily processes, to load, convert, and update resources or records to support the access and assessment of electronic resources, and for the Acquisitions unit’s record management needs. The position will assist in the maintenance of SFX, in troubleshooting access problems, and will also assist in managing the reports and documentation necessary to support electronic resources and acquisitions work. This position reports to the Head of Acquisitions.

The Milwaukee (WI) County Federated Library System (MCFLS) is seeking an experienced and talented library professional to serve as its next Director.

ABOUT THE MILWAUKEE COUNTY FEDERATED LIBRARY SYSTEM

The mission of the Milwaukee County Federated Library System (MCFLS) is to assume a leadership role in facilitating cooperation among its member libraries, improving access to and encouraging sharing of resources, promoting the most effective use of local, county, state and federal funds and assisting member libraries in the utilization of current and evolving technologies to provide the highest level of library service to all residents of Milwaukee County.

MCFLS has 15 member libraries anchored by the Milwaukee Public city libraries. The office is centrally located downtown, within Milwaukee’s Central library, a beautiful and historic structure on Wisconsin Ave, downtown’s major thoroughfare. The system has a $4+ million annual budget, including a $2.7 million operating budget.
