Readers' Advisor - Fiction/AV/Teen Department - Mount Prospect Public Library

The full-time position of Readers’ Advisor is available for a passionate reader of adult fiction who possesses strong technology skills. Under the supervision of the Readers’ Advisory Librarian, the Readers’ Advisor plans and leads adult book discussion groups and other fiction-related programs, as well as staffing a busy public service desk assisting adult and teen patrons with books, movies, and music. The Readers’ Advisor will work with other members of the Readers’ Advisory team to select fiction titles for the print collection, create patron-oriented advisory materials, and facilitate reading programs. The Readers' Advisor also acts as the lead blogger for the adult fiction section of the Library web page, and provides training and troubleshooting for the Library's eBook collection. Seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, public service-oriented individual to manage busy Circulation Services Department operations. Join the staff of a library located in the NW Suburban Chicago area with an annual circulation of over one million. The position is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of all circulation services. Manager will coach, train and guide staff using values-based public service to ensure a positive patron experience. This position is a member of the Management and Leadership Teams. Requires excellent communication and organizational skills; excellent training ability; excellent knowledge of SirsiDynix Horizon (ILS) system and related emerging technologies; ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective relationships. Required: Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school preferred. A minimum of five years public library experience. Must have knowledge of and experience with circulation systems, policies, and procedures in a public library setting. Demonstrated progressive management/supervisory responsibility.
