Provide leadership and support to 24 progressive public libraries in the north and northwest Chicago suburbs as the new Executive Director of Cooperative Computer Services (CCS). The successful candidate will lead CCS-a member driven organization-into the future through centralized affordable, reliable and progressive shared library technology. The Executive Director will collaborate with member libraries to offer stellar services to their individual communities. CCS, headquartered in Arlington Heights IL, has a reputation for excellence as a reliable ILS service provider (currently of Sirsi-Dynix Symphony) focusing on new opportunities presented by exciting emerging technologies. With a dedicated seven-member staff and a $2 million annual operating budget, CCS is unveiling a new strategic plan July 27, 2016. The CCS Executive Director reports to the CCS Governing Board and the Executive Committee, recommending and supporting best practices and trends in centralized library services related to technology and innovation.

Are you a self-starter who enjoys helping people?  Do you have experience providing research services and planning programs in a public library that embraces change?  If so, you might be just the person for us.  The primary responsibilities for these positions are to staff the research (reference) desk, identify and/or participate in programs and services, assume responsibility for some collection development, and make recommendations to further our goals and enhance our role in the community.  Qualifications include a Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited university and a minimum of two years of reference experience at a public library after receiving the MLS.

The successful candidate will be both a positive and practical visionary with a willingness to take challenges and explore efficiencies in new service models and library spaces. The St. Charles Public Library is poised to begin a new strategic plan continuing its community collaboration to create a welcoming, warm environment for all St. Charles citizens. Key opportunities include a potential redesign and expansion of the Library, enhancing the Director/Board relationship; coaching and mentoring a committed, excellent Library staff; and designing and executing leading edge technologies for library services. Governed by an elected seven-member Board, the Library serves 55,000 residents (53% carry library cards) with an annual budget of $7.8 million, an annual circulation of 1.4 million items, and 120 dedicated staff.
