eRead Illinois Newsletter
March 20, 2014
It’s Not Too Late:
SHARE members that would like to start participation in the 3M Cloud Library shared collection on April 1, 2014 should email Lesley at: firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, March 21. You’ll pay a prorated member fee when you start in April, and Lesley will be happy to send you a member fee quote if you are unsure what the cost will be for your library.
Non-SHARE libraries are welcome to sign-up to participate in the Baker & Taylor Axis 360 shared collection at any time. Simply fill out the request for membership participation fee form and email it to: email@example.com. For more information, visit the RAILS eRead Illinois page.
Important News for School Libraries in SHARE:
The 3M Cloud Library team has been working diligently for us by creating patron codes that will filter out age-inappropriate materials from the 3M Cloud app for your students. Unfortunately, even with all of their hard work this solution will not be ready to go on April 1. We apologize for the delay, but anticipate that it is only a very small one!
For those schools that were planning to start participation on April 1, we will allow you to sign up in the middle of April or whenever we can implement this solution at a prorated fee amount. Email Lesley at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll add you to the list of libraries to notify the second we’re ready to proceed.
We still have a few training opportunities squeezed into March for both SHARE and non-SHARE members. Register for any of the sessions listed below in L2. (Note: You will need to be logged into L2 to view each listing.)
For SHARE members:
- 3M Shopping Cart Training: Wednesday, March 26 @ 11:00 am via Adobe Connect
- IHLS Technology Petting Zoo: Thursday, March 27 @ 1:00 pm at the C.E. Brehm Memorial Public Library District
For non-SHARE members:
A series of live training sessions and online webinars on the eRead Illinois Axis 360 platform are being held in to April. Live sessions are scheduled at different locations and are only available to staff from libraries participating in eRead Illinois (registration is required). Recordings of the Shared Collection Training and the Administrative Site webinars will be available at a later date and posted on the eRead Illinois website. For a complete list of upcoming training opportunities, visit the RAILS eRead Illinois Webinars and Presentations page. If you have any questions, please contact Natalie DeJonghe, E-book Trainer/Coordinator, at: email@example.com.
eRead Illinois Website:
We’re getting closer to launching the eRead Illinois website which will provide all eRead Illinois members with a one-stop shop to find training opportunities, promotional materials, and updated information as our project continues to grow. In the meantime, don’t forget to check out the IHLS eRead Illinois page for SHARE members and the RAILS eRead Illinois page for non-SHARE members to stay up to date on all things eRead Illinois. We’re constantly adding new items (like this simple and customizable 3M Cloud Library App flyer) to both of these pages. Be sure to check back often!
A Note from Lesley:
Several of you have been asking if I can set up a Technology Petting Zoo at your library. Your response has been outstanding and I want to personally THANK all of you for being willing to open up your libraries for these sessions. We will be going on a short training hiatus starting in mid-April, because I will be unavailable for a couple of months on maternity leave. During this time, I’ll leave you in the very capable hands of our SHARE Manager for Staff Services, Chris Dawdy. You’ll notice I’ve added her to our Project Team contact list. Feel free to contact her at any time with your eRead Illinois questions. In the meantime, you can still reach me here in the office via phone or email until sometime around April 17. We’ll be setting up more Technology Petting Zoos and other trainings as soon as I return.
We love hearing from you! Feel free to contact members of the project team with questions and suggestions:
