eRead Illinois Newsletter: February 6, 2014
eRead Illinois Newsletter
February 6, 2014
Didn’t have it in your budget to sign up for eRead Illinois at the beginning of the year? Thinking you might have some extra dollars now? You can sign up to participate in eRead Illinois at any time during the first year. SHARE members that would like to start participation in the 3M Cloud Library on March 1, 2014, should let Lesley know by Friday, February 21. We’ll send you an updated welcome packet with the prorated membership fee for your library. Still unsure how much it would cost your library to join? Just send in the 3M Cloud Library fee request form and we’ll send you a quote. Requesting a quote does not obligate your library to participate.
Non-SHARE libraries are welcome to sign-up to participate in the Baker & Taylor Axis 360 shared collection at any time. Simply fill out the request for membership participation fee form and email it to: firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information, visit the RAILS eRead Illinois page.
Both collections continue to grow quickly. We’re monitoring holds and purchasing additional copies just as fast we can. Currently there are 3,969 items in the 3M Cloud shared collection and 6,162 unique titles in the Axis 360 shared collection!
SHARE members, don’t forget to log-in to the 3M CAT tool and set up your shopping cart. We’re purchasing titles that you place in your cart every Friday afternoon. We need your help to grow a diverse and well-rounded collection. Non-SHARE members that would like to serve as guest selectors for the Axis 360 collection should contact email@example.com for more information.
There are several training opportunities available for SHARE members throughout the month of February. Check out the times listed below and register in L2 for a session that works for you. (Look for more live sessions in March!)
- 3M Shopping Cart Training: Tuesday, February 11 @ 2:00
- 3M Shopping Cart Training: Thursday, February 13 @ 11:00 am
- 3M Shopping Cart Training: Tuesday, February 18 @ 9:00 am
- 3M Shopping Cart Training: Thursday, February 20 @ 3:00 pm
For non-SHARE members a series of live training sessions and online webinars on the eRead Illinois Axis 360 platform begin on February 10 and run into April. Because seating is limited, live sessions are only available to staff from libraries participating in eRead Illinois and registration is required. Recordings of the Shared Collection Training and the Administrative Site webinars will be available at a later date and posted on the eRead Illinois website. For a complete list of upcoming training opportunities, see: www.railslibraries.info/eread-illinois-program/webinars-and-presentations. Please note that you must be logged in to www.librarylearning.info to view these opportunities. If you have any questions, please contact Natalie DeJonghe, E-book Trainer/Coordinator, at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We’ve gotten some great questions this week about the 3M Cloud Library, so we thought we would share the answers here. First of all, the Kindle Fire app download has been tricky for several of our users, so we created a new handout (with screenshots) that details the process for those 1st and 2nd generation devices. Don’t forget you can also find the Kindle Fire HD (newer devices) download instructions on the IHLS eRead Illinois page along with a myriad of other handouts.
Second, we’ve gotten some questions about canned reports in Polaris and your 3M circulation statistics. For now, we’re recommending the “Item Circulation Statistics” and the “Item Circulation by Loaning Branch” reports to find the statistics you need. You’ll find instructions for how to run these reports on the eRead Illinois page as well. Please disregard the “Item Circulation by Collection” report. Your questions helped us find an inaccuracy within this report that we’re looking in to. As always, a big THANK YOU for any and all feedback!
