Participating Libraries:
If your library is an IHLS SHARE member, don’t forget to send back your participation agreement by December 31, 2013 to retain access to the 3M Cloud Library shared collection. Haven’t signed up yet? Send a 3M fee request form to lzavediuk@illinoisheartland.org. We’ll send a quote for your library, followed by a welcome packet containing the forms you’ll need to fill out if you choose to participate.

IHLS non-SHARE and RAILS members will be publicly launching the Baker & Taylor Axis 360 shared collection on December 16. A soft rollout is currently underway for staff from participating libraries to familiarize themselves with the platform. Did you miss the earlier sign-up period? Send an Axis 360 fee request form to ereadillinois@railslibraries.info.

Looking to join eRead Illinois later in the year? Libraries that aren’t already participating by January 1, 2014 will have a chance to sign-up at the beginning of each month during the first year. Let us know when you’re ready and we’ll send you an adjusted quote at a pro-rated amount.

Collection Development:
SHARE member libraries that have already sent in their participation agreements will receive information about their 3M Shopping Carts shortly. This is a chance for your library to select titles and add them to the shared collection. Once your cart has been set up, you’ll receive an email with log-in information, training materials, and the basic ins & outs of shopping with 3M. It’s so easy, you’re going to love it!

Non-SHARE and RAILS member libraries participating in the Axis 360 shared collection can now view the opening day collection and a list of the guest selectors who helped to choose these titles by visiting the eRead Illinois Opening Day Collection page. eRead Illinois will continue to utilize guest selectors as collection development continues in the Axis 360 platform. If you are interested in serving as a guest selector, please contact ereadillinois@railslibraries.info and include brief information about your experience with collection development/e-books.

Moving forward, the collection and hold queues for both 3M and Axis 360 will be closely monitored and titles will be added quickly and frequently to meet patron demand.

Training:
SHARE member libraries are welcome to attend a virtual 3M Cloud Library demo held via Adobe Connect on Wednesday, December 18, from 2:00 – 3:00 pm. We would like to offer a great big THANK YOU to all library staff members who have already attended our trainings throughout November & December. We’ve seen over 90 of you at these sessions and we’re thrilled with the amount of interest in this project! More training to come in January, so stay tuned!

There are three live webinars left in December for RAILS and non-SHARE member libraries participating in the program. Registration and viewing instructions can be found on L2 for the following sessions:
(Note: You must be logged into L2 in order to view the information about these programs.)

Promotion:
The eRead Illinois project team is dedicated to providing you with as many materials as we can to help you serve your patrons. You’ll find all of these materials on the IHLS eRead Illinois page. If your library has created an awesome resource and you are willing to share, please email Lesley at lzavediuk@illinoisheartland.org.
