Copy Cataloger, Belleville Public Library

Full-time, 37.5 hourly union position with benefits. Perform copy cataloging and classification of library materials using online databases in accordance with current international cataloging standards of the library, the library system and the cooperative database. Provide expertise to patrons and staff regarding the retrieval of information via the library’s online catalog.

Education: LTA preferred or 2 years of college education.

Experience: 3 years library, 1 year copy cataloging.

Salary: $11.57 hour starting salary.

Closing date: January 7, 2010

Additional Information: Must become City resident within 15 months of hire. Salary increase after 120 days probation and a $.75 increase 5/1/11.  Must be able to work day, evening and Saturday shifts. Broad knowledge of principles and practices of professional library work.  Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing  Analytical and organizational skills. Broad understanding of technology and implementation for library operations. Must maintain established level of continuing education requirements of the cooperative library system.  Experience with cataloging in Millennium a plus.
