With the retirement of our current director in late fall, an extraordinary opportunity awaits an experienced, ambitious library director at the New Lenox Public Library District.  In the heart of Will County, Illinois, the Village of New Lenox is approximately 36 miles southwest of downtown Chicago, at the junction of I-80 and I-355.

A member of the Prairie Area Library System, our district library serves a population of over 40,000 residents, with a yearly circulation of 300,000 and an annual budget of $1.74 million.  We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic Library Director, who will work collaboratively with our staff, board and community.  We seek a creative leader to direct, inspire and support a talented library staff in their service to the public.  The candidate should be knowledgeable in public library finance, legal issues, current and emerging library trends, including technology and social media.

The successful candidate will have a Masters Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school and a minimum of three to five years public library supervision and management. Experience with and understanding of marketing strategies, grant writing and library programming are preferred.
