Featured Staff–John Johnson!
Welcome to our inaugural post about the staff of Lewis & Clark Library System! Every other week, we will randomly select a staff person and write a short article about that person and the work that they do for the System. Up first is John Johnson, Courier Driver.
John has been with the System for 11 years. His favorite part of being a courier driver is, “The good people I work for and with and the librarians. I love chatting to the librarians!” After 11 years on the job, there isn’t too much that phases John, including bouts with bad weather. His 30 years experience as an over-the-road truck driver definitely play a role in his cool demeanor about the icy roads of the Metro East. When John isn’t at LCLS or on a courier route, his favorite activity is fishing, specifically bass.
Courier Drivers perform a vital function in the daily operations of the Library System. These men and women transport requested materials in an efficient and safe manner throughout the System utilizing 7 daily routes. The service they provide is one of our most visible services to the people of Illinois and has become the hallmark of stellar library service in Illinois.
