Planning, Budgeting and Taxes

  • Public librarians and trustees are expected to understand Illinois tax revenue, Illinois tax levies and their uses helps explain the various property taxes available to Illinois public libraries.
  • The System tracks and analyzes the changes in Equalized Assessed Valuation, tax rates and estimated tax revenue of the public library members. This information is helpful to determine growth, trends and other issues impacting the financial support of libraries. External Organizations for Public Libraries

ILA
The Illinois Library Association (ILA) has been the voice for Illinois libraries and the millions who depend on them. Its membership is made up of public, academic, school, and special libraries as well as librarians, library assistants, trustees, students and library vendors. It is a not-for-profit educational organization with over 3,000 members.
