LCLS Board Approves Revised Interlibrary Loan Policy
The new Interlibrary Loan Policy was reordered for clarity, removing redundant sections. Libraries are reminded they are financially responsible for items requests on behalf of their patrons. LCLS will no longer reimburse a lending library for material billed to by not paid for by a borrowing library. The System will investigate documented claims for material suspected to have been lost or damaged while in transit in the System’s courier service, paying for items which it is deemed responsible.
The System’s lnterlibrary loan service supports and encourages interlibrary loan activity between its members, between all ILLINET libraries, and between all legally established libraries. The System’s interlibrary loan service provides training and support.
The Illinois State Library has distributed copies of the new ILLINET Interlibrary Loan Code, and is posted on the State Library Web site under Who We Are, ILLINET, ILLINET Code.
